The Institute of Global Value Inquiry (IGVI) complies with the statutory provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG), the German Telemedia Act (TMG) and other relevant data protection regulations.

The following describes which data IGVI processes and how and which rights users of this website have in connection with the processing of their personal data.

Subject matter of data protection

The subject of data protection is personal data. According to Art. 4 No. 1 GDPR, this is all information about factual or personal circumstances relating to an identified or identifiable natural person. This includes, for example, information such as name, postal address, e-mail address or telephone number, but may also include usage data such as the IP address.

Data processing

IGVI processes personal data only if it has legal permission or consent or to safeguard a legitimate interest, provided that the interests, fundamental rights and freedoms of the data subject do not outweigh this.

Data processing includes, in particular, the collection, recording, organisation, structuring, storage, adaptation or alteration, use, disclosure by transmission and erasure of personal data by automated means.

Data log files

When you visit this website, the device used to access the website automatically transmits log data (connection data) to the website server. These are

  • the IP address
  • the host name
  • the browser
  • the referrer URL/domain
  • the date and time of the server request
  • the element retrieved (e.g. page or image)

This process is anonymised; the data can therefore not be assigned to a specific person. The server stores this data for a maximum of seven days to detect and defend against attacks.

Making contact

When contacting IGVI by email, the information provided by the user about personal and factual circumstances will be processed by IGVI exclusively for the purpose of processing the enquiry.

Use and disclosure of personal data

If IGVI is commissioned to provide a service, personal data will only be passed on to third parties without separate consent to the extent necessary for the provision of the service. Personal data will not be sold, rented or made available to third parties in any other way. Personal data will only be transferred to state institutions and authorities within the framework of mandatory national legislation.

Links to other websites

This data protection declaration only applies to content on the servers of IGVI and does not cover the external websites linked to this website. The external providers are responsible for these.

Data security

In order to protect personal data against accidental or intentional manipulation, loss, destruction or access by unauthorised persons, IGVI takes organisational, contractual and technical security measures in accordance with the state of the art: personal data is stored exclusively on our own/secured systems in Germany. Access to this data is only possible for a few authorised persons and persons who are obliged to provide special data protection and who are involved in the technical, administrative or editorial management of the data. The employees and partners of IGVI are obliged to maintain confidentiality.

Data transmission on the Internet (e.g. when communicating by e-mail) may be subject to security vulnerabilities. Complete protection of data against access by third parties is not possible.

User rights and deletion of data

Every user has the right, upon request and free of charge, to receive information about their personal data stored by IGVI and to receive this data in a structured form or to have it transmitted to a third party.

In addition, every user has the right to rectification of incorrect data, revocation of consent, restriction and erasure of their personal data.

Personal data will be deleted immediately if it is no longer required to fulfil the purpose of its processing and in the event of revocation. Data will not be deleted if it is still required to fulfil a request and if the processing is carried out to protect a legitimate interest and, after weighing up the interests, there is no reason to assume that the user’s legitimate interest in the exclusion of processing outweighs this, provided that the user has expressly consented to further processing, or if deletion is not permitted for other legal reasons, for example because statutory retention periods prevent this.
